Christian Sterzing has been the director of the Arab Middle East Office (AMEO) since the beginning of 2004. By profession he is a lawyer and a social educationalist. He left his lawyer’s office in Rhineland-Palatinate/Germany in 1989 to work with the European Parliament in Brussels and Strasbourg. From 1994 to 2002 he was a member of the German Parliament (Bundestag) for the Green Party. As a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee for Defense and the Committee on European Affairs as well as the vice-chairman of the Green Parliamentary Group, he mainly dealt with international, European and security policy.Ever since his first visit to the Middle East in 1973, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the political and societal developments in this region are one of his major fields of interest He published several books about these topics and wrote numerous articles in newspapers and magazines. | |

Dr. Hadeel Qazzaz is our program coordinator and deputy director. Her main field of expertise is gender and development. She was born in the Gaza Strip, but after studying at Al-Quds University in Jerusalem and the University of Leeds in the UK, she is now residing in Ramallah. Her responsibilities include the development and steering of programme areas in addition to monitoring and evaluating projects and representing the foundation in different activities. | |

Nadeen Karkar Abu Hadid has joined the office staff in April 2006. She is responsible for the financial and administrative aspects of the projects.

Alia Rayyan is our program coordinator since November 2006. She studied international politics, with focus on the Middle East, sociology and history of art in Trier, Hamburg and London and worked since 2001 as a consultant, creative producer, project manager, journalist and writer for different politics and art projects and events in Berlin, Beirut, and Amman and Ramallah. Her main focus in the office is Media, Freedom of Expression and the Dialogue program | |

Hiba Al-Taibi is project coordinator for the EU funded project titled "A life without violence and discrimination is possible: Regional Campaign to Protect Women from Domestic Violence" which is implemented by hbf in cooperation with three partners in Palestine, Egypt and Jordan. She previously worked as a trainer for Euro-Med youth program and helped in translating and developing many manuals in the field of training skills, campaigning, organization management, and inter-cultural learning and dialogue. She is currently enrolled for MA degree in "International Relations" in Birzeit University. | |
